Glutamine is an amino acid which is abundant in muscle tissues and in the gastrointestinal tract. Glutamine is known as a conditionally essential amino acid, meaning that in times of distress on the body, glutamine depletion may exceed the rate in which it can be naturally produced. During these times, it may be beneficial to supplement with glutamine to ensure the body can appropriately replenish and rejuvenate its own glutamine levels. Glutamine is of major importance to the mucosal cells of the GI tract, which use glutamine for cell growth, repair and to maintain proper gut health. Supplementing with ATP Science L-Glutamine may promote muscle recovery, muscle protein synthesis, reducing DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) and increasing recovery, and supporting a healthy immune and digestive system during times of illness and distress.
