Folic Acid Complex by Herbs of Gold provides a daily dose of 500mcg of folic acid which, if taken daily for at least one month before conception and during pregnancy, may reduce the risk of spina bifida and neural tube defects in children. It also contains co-methylcobalamin which is the metabolically active form of vitamin B12 in the body. This vitamin is required for the protective sheath surrounding many nerves (myelin) and it helps maintain healthy cognitive function. Vitamin B12 is an important co-factor for folic acid function. Folic acid and vitamin B12 are important for healthy cell growth, replication and division.

Herbs of Gold Folic Acid Complex also contains vitamin B6 which may help to relieve morning sickness in pregnant women. It also helps to maintain healthy immune function as it is necessary for red blood cell formation. It also contributes to cardiovascular health by supporting a healthy homocysteine metabolism. The complex formula has many other benefits for mother and child such as assisting in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Herbs of Gold Folic Acid Complex has added 275mcg Iodine) to this formula as Iodine requirements are increased during pregnancy and lactation. Adequate iodine is necessary for healthy brain, skeletal and central nervous system development in fetuses and infants. Each tablet contains:
- Folic Acid: 500mcg.
- Mecobalamin (co-methylcobalamin) (active vitamin B12): 500mcg.
- Pyridoxine hydrochloride: 50mg, equiv. Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) 41.1mg.
- Iodine (as potassium iodide): 275mcg.
